The Ukraine ‘peace plan’ distracts from the real issue: why Russia’s desperate to keep fighting
Say what you will about President Trump’s methods, but his wish to end Russia’s war is genuine. The problem is Moscow doesn’t want peace in Ukraine, it wants Ukraine in pieces. Every time the White…

Is Trump going to clarify his statement from a couple days ago that Ukraine must accept the Russian-authored/US translated surrender plan by Thursday, or is he just going to play golf and post about arresting Democrats all day?

If Chuck Schumer was a stronger leader, he would have been able to convince most of these senators to hold the line.

I’m terribly disappointed in him.

Democrats can't defeat Trump-MAGA authoritarianism without an agenda that stands squarely on the side of working people.

We need a pro-worker, pro-democracy, anti-establishment movement that will take on oligarchy like never before.

It starts with the party rejecting Big Money.

We need to primary Democrat senators until they learn to be more loyal to us than their traitorous colleagues
I understand what the roll call vote totals are going to be but if the other Democrats had a problem with this deal they would be withholding unanimous consent on advancing it and loudly naming their colleagues as traitors.

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

I don't know that I agree that they all caved. But I do agree that some of them took the fall for a larger group of corporate Dems. That's why you have senators who are retiring being willing to vote for this. I wouldn't automatically cheer everyone who voted no. Afterall, Chuck did.
They call caved. It was not just the moderate Democrats.

@muellershewrote.com what do you think of the argument that a lot more of the Dems wanted to end the shutdown and handful agreed to take the fall? I don't think everyone voting no was opposed to this action tonight.

Mike Johnson continues to deny them representation because their duly elected representative has pledged to sign the petition to release the Epstein files.

Today, Mike Johnson will keep the House adjourned for the 81st day out of the last 93.

12 days of work in over 3 months.

With full pay and benefits.

The senate has been working, so this is not about the shutdown.

It is about avoiding a vote to release the Epstein files.
