ping @rudigerstrempel.bsky.social - seems that ICES will duplicate what HELCOM has done for many year with success ...
But hasn’t HELCOM producer and published 3 Integrated Ecosystem Assessments since 2010 (HOLAS1, HOLAS2 and HOLAS3)? All 3 seems to be data- and tool-based using HEAT, BEAT, CHASE and BSPI/BSII. All these tools are fully documented in peer-reviewed articles.

📣🌊 A joint statement for and from the Baltic

The side event by ICES and DG MARE alongside #ICESASC25 last week concludes with a joint statement calling for adaptive science, coordinated governance across sectors, and new tools to support Baltic Sea recovery.

Women, non-native English speakers & those form low-income countries are disadvantaged in science but by how much? We found that women with non-English first languages from low-income countries publish up to 70% fewer in English than their counterparts. 1/5

To the non-expert, this will seem esoteric, so allow me to summarise: we have profoundly altered the distribution of nutient elements on the ocean, with a potentially profound impact on the life that lives in it.
⚒️ Article: The proportion of carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus in the ocean now substantially differs from the Redfield ratio, likely reflecting a reduction in phosphorus limitation

Being at the #Aquasync synthesis symposium led by @2xges.bsky.social .

Learning about aquatic research & announcing 1st funded working groups as part of the global call on Biodiversity & Climate change. EXCITING!

And hearing about @nceas-ucsb.bsky.social success from Ben Halpern.

Nice place too!

We're meeting today to kick off our new NERC-funded project on the 'Impacts of bottom trawling on seabed carbon storage'. It's a consortium project to establish how the disturbance associated with bottom trawling modifies C storage, cycling and air/sea CO2 fluxes.

Welcome to the #ges4seas #mooc on Tipping Points #tipp
Well, what is a Tipping Point?
It is a point after which an ecosystem suddenly shifts from one state to another, Going back to the original state is difficult: SOMETIMES IMPOSSIBLE.
See the thread for more details👇
