Eli Rinde’ #ITRS2025 talk shows that darkening and eutrophication resulted in a lot of opportunistic filamentous algae, reduced seaweed recruitment and major problems with growth and survival. The study also showed that the species that lived in the blue forest were negatively affected.

Thanks for arranging this #ITRS2025 workshop 🤩 It was a very useful exercise, and I loved going through all the steps of planning our perfect will-never-ever-get-funded project 😂 and to make our priorities when reality (i.e. huge funding cuts) were thrown at us 😂

ITRS 2025 ✅ 🌊 This week has been one of the best of my entire PhD. I met so many fantastic scientists doing meaningful work—and managed some well-needed exploring after sitting at a desk for so long. All my academic role models in one room? Amazing.

More from @twernberg.bsky.social at #ITRS2025: We must to step up seriously if we want to stop and repair kelp loss. Is it even feasible? Daunting amount of restoration projects needed (maybe millions).

The deadline for #itrs2025 abstract is getting closer (January 5th). I am sitting here trying to pick elements from papers and new analyses to tell a cool (hopefully) story from my intertidal seaweed communities, both from the field and the NIVA mesocosm basins.
