Picked up a lot of new followers (mostly bots, but let me pretend), and so this is an intro post.

I'm an Appalachian-born, devoted Angeleno with a long executive career in film, TV, tech, and now sports. I love talking about movies, comics, Star Trek, Star Wars, books, sports, music, and travel.
Why do I still know the jingle from the McDonald's pizza Happy Meal commercial?

I constantly get ads pushed in various web pages that tout "the most realistic game ever". Is that what gamers really care about? I want orcs and aliens and visual style, which usually means less realism. My son's favorite game right now is Piku Niku, which is delightfully unreal.

Alt: GIF from the game Piku Niku. A little red dude comprised of a red pill shaped body, no head, no arms, two black dots for eyes, and long thin legs does silly rhythmic knee bends.

Los Angeles, if you see a group of people with a map and a phone and bright yellow vests walking around, they are doing the Greater LA Homeless Count, where we spot the unhoused and add them to our statistics so we can accurately distribute resources.

Kinda hurts to see something from 1988 referred to as vintage. I'll just be over here slowly turning to dust.

A very belated shout out, but I really enjoyed this edition of the Holiday Special. We can debate episodes, movies, captains and everything until the Buhgoon come home, so it was nice to hear so many different representatives of the franchise talk about what makes it special.
IT'S HERE! The 2025 INGLORIOUS TREKSPERTS HOLIDAY SPECIAL is available now wherever you listen to podcasts and on You Tube filled with tons of special guests, Scrooges, #StarTrek & Santa. Merry Christmas and a very Helen Noel from The Treksperts.

Should adverbs be used as little as possible? No. They should be used rarely.

The reruns of Friends on Nick at Nite are obviously compressed for additional ad time... the cast sound like they've been sucking on helium balloons. I suppose all involved are happy to cash the syndication checks, but feels a little gross to me.

Yeah, the hands thing is not a story to me. It's like none of the resistance skeeters have met an old person.
I’m a physician. The most common cause of bruises to the dorsal hands in an elderly Caucasian man would be solar purpura—fragile skin due to age, prior sun exposure, and sometimes anticoagulants (blood thinners). Hand bruises aren’t proof of IVs. Also IVs can go places other than hands.

A writer in LA is like an old-timey door-to-door vacuum cleaner salesman, only you have to pitch your way thru everyone in the house, including the dog, and no one’s ever home. And you have to make the vacuums.

Eventually, months later, they let you know they’ve decided to stick with a broom.

Elmo is turning 40. Not sure if that means he's old, or I'm old, or maybe I'm not that old after all.

My friend Tom has a Kickstarter up for his new comic. It's already funded, he's self-published before, and the pledge tiers are quite low. So if you're in the mood for a fun new comic, you've got 6 hours to get in on "Clash of the Classics"! www.kickstarter.com/projects/192...

According to NextGenStats, Myles Garrett has an average get-off of 0.60 seconds today.

To put that in context, the fastest average by any player this season is 0.73 (It's Myles Garrett lol)
