Not like me. You're not like us.

I got on a ballot. W/o you. Hard part's cutting through Billionaires like you & Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Sam Altman, Mark Zuckerberg, Peter Thiel shouting over US

You and all these Billionaires are going to form a party with regular folks at heart?

My Cubes, please!
Just like you Jefferey. If the Dems wouldn't let you run, we would help YOU get on the ballot.
Much will be written by future civilizations about our choice to turn a momentary price bubble into a long-term inflationary plateau.

Flu has always been serious, but it's nice that go back to a risk profile that somewhat resembles the world before 2020.
Flu deaths exceeded COVID deaths last winter and we may be on track for the same thing this year!
I can speak anecdotally that at the hospital I work at we’ve had very low covid census. We test anyone experiencing respiratory symptoms, and we’ve had very few people with Covid who have needed to be hospitalized. Which is a relief because we are absolutely inundated with flu rn

not too late for a flu shot btw, flu historically often peaks in february and by all accounts it is pretty bad this year

Control over workers, making work mandatory for health, crushing small businesses and independent entrepreneurs is the whole point.

Mike Johnson wants every American to work as hard as they possibly can for their ticket to live. Shuts 'em up, keeps the economy tight and manipulable.
Millions of Americans remain at jobs they hate for one reason: the health insurance they receive. That’s absurd.

Universal health care will give Americans the freedom to choose the work they want without worrying about health care coverage.

Another reason for Medicare for All.

I guess a lot of them draw more from Isaac Asimov though.

Anybody wanna make #Subnautica for deep space?
Mentioning the lunar rover's effective radius is limited by astronauts' remaining life support if they have to walk back—

strikes me that all space exploration is basically scuba diving or worse levels of controlling your personal air supply every single minute.

Not enough space fiction about that

On a wider note, what of the hero's journey, when you've taken so long to return to the world of the Known that it's become Unknown to you?

"Oh, master of two worlds with his magic hammer come to share his boon from the Outerworld? Whatever loser, we all got magic hammers now—I don't even use mine"
The idea that you'll see all your old friends in heaven is so outdated because like.. on rare occasions I catch up with somebody (holidays, life events) there's this shared affirmation that we don't really keep up with anyone from back then, and nobody's even seen Brian in a decade...

So which era?

Reddit "perfect" tv pilot list..
Two things:
- so many of these are shows from over a decade ago
- I've seen most of them now

I used to watch a LOT of tv, both as an escape and an active interest in contributing to the medium

Career out of reach for so long, the tv I wanna write isn't even tv now

Hope some of you read these Buy calls last month. Dip last week was a shock but the swing back to the initial top blow-off seems to be complete.

People are saying Santa Rally. I'm not really sure what next week holds. Probably hang for the new year, thankful for where we are

Sometimes the sheer existence of xkcd causes me to question everything I've done with my life, when this delight is apparently an option. Because these are the places my brain goes to be happy, and I don't get that in my life anymore.

That Millennial feeling that Princess Mia who interned with Vogue is way too young to play Goodwill Hunting's wife. It's not even that much of a gap... it's just... genres and like...a very specific age of cementing archetypes.

Looks better than the armor!

It's a bad system: to get a PhD to work in industry, you have to spend a large part of a decade lying to everybody, that you've really always wanted to teach, tackle some weirdly specific research niche, and *maybe* they say it's good enough to drop it for the corporate job you wanted the whole time

I don't get it. All I had was an entire family's portions of Irish stew, a number of large loaves of bread, an entire pumpkin pie every single day for a week and a large tuna sandwich with extra chips and then two other bags and a hamburger

I blame endocrine disrupters, honestly. And obviously 5G

I would like to sincerely apologize for the post that got me suspended. I did not mean to suggest nor imply that my mom taking Aleve during pregnancy gave me "stronger, longer lasting Autism". I see now this was wrong.

So on this one specific metric, I'm just as good as @PattonOswalt.bsky.social!
