They got in on the strength of "Hard Luck Woman" alone.
As an avowed KISS defender who still kind of agrees with this sentiment I do have to play devil's advocate and say that they came up with an impressive number of slight melodic variations on lyrics like "oh baby/your loving drivin' me crazy"
The real scandal is KISS making it in. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, sure. But songwriters? For maybe three and a half good songs across 24 albums?
