There is an article out there that attempts to bring order to the chaos.

Absolutely—essential when you start pulling the strings on the theorem’s assumptions and this thinking about those bargaining processes in the real world.

I’ll give you monop comp within price theory, as there are moments when it actually matters. (May the blessed Milton and George forgive me.) But game theory is irrelevant in a Coase theorem world thanks to the full and complete information that comes with the zero transaction costs assumption.

Geez. Now I can see why I don’t check this site very often!

Um …😉

Thanks. It really is a great read. I still have the audio tapes (a box or cassettes). Need to digitize them one of these days.

I read that story to my students every time I teach my history of economic thought course. The looks on their faces are priceless.

The discussion ending at this tweet is very smart on both sides ( @lugaricano.bsky.social and @shengwuli.bsky.social ), reasonably spicy, and fun to read.
I don't think the argument for the price system rests on full information. I think it rests on Hayek 1945, hence precisely on dispersed local knowledge --i said that before. But let's leave it here. I think we clarified quite a bit, and I hope some of our readers (if there are any!) learned a bit.
With @thomasdelcey.bsky.social we are thrilled to release the first version of the French economics PhD database 🎉

Using Sudoc and theses.fr data, we have collected metadata on most PhD defended in France in economics since 1900!
