How are disturbances shaped across the world’s #forests and how are humans influencing these patterns? We built a global map of forest disturbance structures to explore these questions. Check out my first paper in Nature Sustainability @natureportfolio.bsky.social www.nature.com/articles/s41...
Landscape patterns in stand-replacing disturbances across the world’s forests - Nature Sustainability
Forests are subject to natural and human-induced disturbances, which can be important in shaping their form and function. In this study, the authors examine the landscape patterns of global forest dis...

New study @nature.com shows increasing reflectance of sunlight by the land surface due to #climate change over past 2 decades:

This is in stark contrast with changes over oceans where clouds are becoming less reflective, leading to greater heating:

Radiative forcing reduced by early twenty-first century increase in land albedo - Nature
Effects of snow cover dynamics, land use or land cover conversions and non-conversion regions on albedo variations during 2001–2020 are quantified and their induced radiative forcing estimated, highli...

Effect of climate on traits of dominant and rare tree species in the world’s forests
Nature Communications - Species’ traits and environmental conditions determine the abundance of tree species across the globe. Here, the authors find that dominant tree species are taller and...

🚀 Milestone achieved for @esa.int #BIOMASS mission! the satellite has fully deployed its 12m antenna!

First to use P-band radar in orbit, BIOMASS will help us better understand forest carbon and the global carbon cycle🌳

ESA's #BIOMASS satellite launches today!

Using radar, it will measure forest mass, track carbon storage, and help scientists monitor climate change.

You can watch the launch live on ESA Web TV from 10:00AM (BST).
