This study documents extensive intraindividual trait variability (variability among repeated units within an individual) within clonal plants for both size-architectural and leaf traits (up to 100% of total). Congrats to @albaanadon.bsky.social and co-authors !

Living in Scotland means I'm constantly lagging behind on our walks as I stop to get a closer look.
Does everyone react that way when they see a bryophyte? 💚

A reminder:

There is no analogy in the fossil record for the magnitude & scale of the modern bioinvasion event.

Driven by human activities, species are moving faster, farther, and in greater numbers than at any time in the history of life.
Climate change is a 'natural' process now occurring ~10 times faster than the average rate after an ice age. Extinction is 'natural' but is now occurring 1000X faster than in past eras (apart from mass extinctions). Biological invasion is now at rates 100000X prehistoric levels of spp colonisations.

📚 Meta-analysis of contrasting responses in plant nitrogen and phosphorus resorption, indicates a decoupling of these cycles. This suggests that plants adapt to nutrient limitations, highlighting the need to incorporate these dynamics into ecological models.🌿👉 buff.ly/ZrB2FBR

Nitrogen deposition and climate drive plant nitrogen uptake while soil factors drive nitrogen use efficiency in terrestrial ecosystems
Abstract. The role of plants in sequestering carbon is a critical component in mitigating climate change. A key aspect of this role involves plant nitrogen (N) uptake (Nup) and N use efficiency (NUE),...
