Good evening, Belfast.

On latest ‘border poll’ musings.

Pause to recall the many things the British Government said were not happening here in the past.

Preparation and planning for potential constitutional change is well underway.

And the British Government knows it.

‘He said it was likely he would lend his voice to the campaign for a united Ireland, if a border poll was held.’

Many people of my generation here will find the contemporary reintroduction of “pan-nationalist/republican front” disturbing and disheartening.

Those intent on adopting such terms should reflect deeply - and with a bit of maturity - on the potential consequences.

Béal Feirste.

Many congratulations to @sjamcbride.bsky.social @fotoole.bsky.social and the @arinsproject.bsky.social for delivering such a serious, well-informed and readable contribution to reflections on possible constitutional futures.

Essential reading.

The baffling obsession with the ECHR in English politics continues.

The potential for yet another direct collision with the GFA is there.

Unwise, ill-advised and foolish: legally and politically.

As they will discover, again.

Thank you to Dr Andrew Forde DCU for the opportunity to underline once again today the centrality of the ECHR to our peace process and peace agreement.

A significant conversation about the values that underpin successful, stable and sustainable democratic societies.

That’s number 313 obviously, Tony.

Really looking forward to this conversation with Prof John Doyle @arinsproject.bsky.social

Everyone welcome.
