If I’ve counted right, at the end of the last parliament there were 101/227 women (44.5%). With 226 seats in the new parliament we need 113 women to reach 50% and 114 for a female majority.

Based on the candidates currently ahead, we’re on track for a huge increase in the percentage of women in the House of Reps in the 48th Parliament. Currently women are ahead in 70 of 150 seats, which would mean 46.7% women, up from 38.4% after the last election. #insiders #auspol
