XIVLauncher has a native Linux client and does all the work for you. Even mods work without issue.

Translation support has been merged and I'm happy to say that as of the next release XIVLauncher will be available in French (and hopefully a few other languages, pending community translation). The next bits of work are all around moving away from veldrid and.. *shudder*

14 would be /way/ higher if I actually owned the game via Steam. It only shows up cause I needed the free trial demo installed for XIVLauncher to properly launch my non-Steam version on my Steam Deck lmao.

Just want to give you a headsup that XIVLauncher 1.0.8 (current release) does not support downloading 7.0 until the next version is released (being worked on)
You wont be able to login properly as you wont have the entire patch downloaded when the servers come up

With that logic, why not just go after XIVLauncher and take everything out?
This piecemeal approach doesn't make any sense if dismantling mods was the goal. While I'm sure eventually they'll go after Penumbra, there's a reason they went for Mare first, and it's not about "bypassing" anything.

Quick question: it's my first time updating FFXIV with plogons. Do I need to disable them manually or do anything else funky before downloading and installing the update? Using xivlauncher but I still have the official launcher installed.

That's so weird, I tried from the actual launcher and xivlauncher and it is telling me the game is down for maintenance... the standard launcher said it was waiting to update to the newest version...

I did try that. I did manage to fix it another way though, it seems to have been interacting with the copy of the XIVLauncher I had on an external hard drive so I disconnected the hard drive and it works now!
