I grow to like my secondary characters a lot. In the big scenes at the end, I need to make sure that the main character is active and involved, not just watching other characters take the decisive actions and clean up all the threads. Sometimes that takes a lot of rewriting. 2/2

Finding that sweet spot between "totally saw that coming" and "well, that came out of nowhere". You can't please every reader everywhere, but you can try to make it work for most.
