This talk stitches a line from trans people to an expanded conception of trans, using a focus on trans ecological poetics to go beyond a focus on the human. I broaden the operation of “trans” in trans media studies to include non-human movements, such as those made by animals, viruses, and movements across the boundaries between different environments. Trans media studies can extend the fields of media studies, transgender studies, and trans of color studies to connect more deeply to and through non-human entities. Still, any injunction for queer and trans studies to go beyond the human must reconcile with the history of trans, Palestinian, Black, and Indigenous people being deemed less than human. In this talk, I use the method of algorithmic analysis proposed in my book Poetic Operations: Trans of Color Art in Digital Media (Duke UP, 2022) to explore the operations that make up the poetics of three contemporary artworks—Sin Sol (2020), an augmented reality installation I created with the Critical Realities Studio, Acoustic Ocean (2018), a short film by Ursula Biemann and “Of Whales”, a film created using virtual reality created by Wu Tsang."

Watched the first four episodesof Heated Rivalry, enjoyed it. Best part was commercials. Forst two seasons ads had unmistakable nb and trans persons. Later season ad had young teens, which suggests they are a demographic drawn to this show. May they take inspiration.

album art for justice - cross a real certified Classic right here. it's been a while since i've last heard it, so this was relatively fresh to me. "genesis" is an astoundingly good opener track which is such a clear inspiration for a lot of other electro house. can't say i love every track though! i completely forgot "the party" or "DVNO" existed for instance, both of which i dislike. i don't think the addition of a vocal track works to the same degree that it does in something like "D.A.N.C.E" which to me feels more in harmony. outside of the opener and maybe "waters of nazareth" (LOVE how distorted it is), "stress" might be my favourite because it's kinda giving drakengard 1 OST. strong praise there. it's aptly named because i really love the frantic paranoid energy carried through. dare i even say it's kind of horny? maybe that says too much about me. anyway, this album slaps. 5

Silver lining! Rage has always been a huge source of creative inspiration for me, I've made the jump into making all my current & planned heroines textually, vocally trans fem, and I was already *leaning* towards all of them being full service sex workers into the bargain, so!

Even back when I was a teenager and still hadn't figured out I was #trans and one day I'd actually have a pussy, I collected photos of female genital piercings for "inspiration".

I spent years living as a soft, sensitive guy who secretly felt non-binary. Came out as trans when I was 39 (at first as non-binary but then realising I'm a woman). Started hormones when I was 42. I don't feel like an inspiration, I feel like a mess lol. But thanks.
