Cool :)

Crow Country is a PS1 style survival horror when it comes to graphics and presentation but it's really well done. Very atmospheric. Well at least I thought it was. I bought it after a creator I like - @thespherehunter.bsky.social recommended it.

7. Resident Evil Village
If RE7 was a homage paid to the earlier games, I feel like this one was a great call back to RE4: You have the castle, the merchant and just generally the pace and vibe of the game. Really well made survival horror mixed with some action gun plays, and an emotional ending.

"Send Help" is Sam Raimi slipping back into his horror roots with finesse. A survival film that both physically (fluids galore) & mentally dares to go places that other "stuck on island" movies would never dare venture to. Definitely my favorite Rachel McAdam's performance 2nd only to Mean Girls.

I wouldn't put RE3Remake in the same tier as RE6 by any metric. It was short and cut out stuff but was still fun to play. RE6 is a fucking slog that gives out ammo like a survival horror but slings enemies at you like it's an action game. Upgrades do nothing, it's full of cheap ass hits and is uggo.

Despite its faults, I actually enjoyed Resident Evil 6 for what it was. RE6 may not be traditional survival horror, but as an action game, it was fun as hell.

And for the weakest mainline game in a series to just be okay is a testament to how great Resident Evil is as a series.

In a Survival Horror game the combat itself is generally pretty simple, but your long-term goal of ammo preservation means that each fight you need to make a cost benefit analysis of whether you're going to use ammo or try to run past.

You can also mix short term and long term considerations. Old School JRPGs and Survival Horror games are very good at this.
