*No bullfrogs were injured for this daily extravaganza - their images were digitally removed from photographs I took in ponds at #SpringGroveCemetery in Cincinnati 😃💚

I was so thrilled to see this delightful turtle somewhere I could stop my car and use my Olympus M.Zuiko 100-400mm lens out a window to take a photograph! #Herps

In Dec 2018, I watched a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers forage for hackberries and do some acrobatics - I had to stand in a road to take any photographs! #SpringGroveCemetery 🌿 🪶

Great Blue Herons like the tangled snags of downed branches at the far end of this pond - turtles also bask here at times - (my lens is equivalent to 800mm) - the heron preened & then scoped things out, not actively fishing #SpringGroveCemetery

This American Goldfinch was happily foraging for zinnia seeds - looking around periodically. These little birds are granivores (seed eaters), but will eat tree buds & young bark with some incidental feeding on insects - #SpringGroveCemetery

This American Goldfinch surprised me flying down to one of the zinnias I was examing for skippers - goldfinches eat the seeds with great enthusiasm #SpringGroveCemetery

Sunflowers often hang their heads as the seeds begin to ripen. This one has been plucked - probably by American Goldfinches - #SpringGroveCemetery has a few areas with flowering plants that appeal to birds - other areas have flowers beloved by pollinators & many acres are wild.

At #SpringGroveCemetery, the beech mast was medium heavy this year. The nuts remind me of displaced sea urchins ...
