Todays ROTD is Epidote.
Epidote can be opaque, translucent or transparent.
Epidote is monoclinic.
Epidote can be dull, pearly, resinous, or vitreous.
Epidote is a mineral that belongs to the sorosilicate group.
Epidote is typically green, but it can also be yellow-brown, black, or colorless.
This is an interesting formation where epidote has formed a base for Crystalline epidote to grow upon. The rock below I believe is feldspar and there is sulfur content in the yellow streaks through the right and along the bottom edge and there's also phrenite growing in a tightly packed cluster of white crystals up top. Same specimens before in the same position taken about 15° to the left of the previous shot where the previous shot was designed to show the underpinnings or the Matrix of the epidote crystals this is designed to highlight the contrast between the light green epidote forming the bottom layer and the dark green Crystal and epidote in a zigzagging pattern across the entire surface. The cluster of white phrenite crystals at the top give this almost a Christmas tree appearance. This is the close-up show the layered nature of the specimen on the far right there's a rusty Brown Corner, which is the feldspar that makes up the bottom. Just above that there's a little white line of frenite that is present along the bottom of the entirety of the piece this is being replaced by epidote in light green almost a powdery visualization although that is not the feel of the Peace moving directly into the dark green epidote crystals. In the center left of the shot, there are two crystals of epidode that are impregnated with sulfur, giving it a yellow appearance. On the top center, a tightly packed cluster of phrenite crystals overlook the piece This is a more focused version of the first shot that highlights the total piece which appears to be a Christmas tree shape with a white star on top. The lighter green coating is epidote as well but the main focus of the piece are the dark green crystals that zigzag across this piece.

Penetrative twinned crystals of zunyite coated with a fibrous black particulate. The 2 opposing triangles are growing within each other anf make for a stunning formation of growth where the crystals dont appear to mind that they are growing within each other and maintain their triangle shape. The color is rusty red with black speckles A single triangle specimin, ruddy red and in high contrast with the green speckled purple material it rests on. A bottom view of zunyite under flourescense. The red glow is striking across the surface. Deep red and neon red dominates the surface of the specimin. This is a pryamid of zunyite with several other triangles of zunyite growing inside of it, the centers of the faces of the pryamid all appear to have triangles growing out if their centers.

Today's ROTD ⚒️ 🧪 is Epidote on Quartz. Epidote is a calcium aluminum iron sorosilicate mineral that presents in dark or pistachio green. Quartz is a silicate and one of the most common minerals on earth.
This piece has a really neat configuration and lots of interesting inclusions in its red matrix.
About the size of a walnut this piece exhibits red at the bottom moving up through the yellow orange color scale as you reach the top of the piece where dark green clusters of epidote wrapped in quartz are on the top left. This angle highlights the red undertone very well at the bottom left of the photo and you can note the various clusters of tiny quartz crystals that appear in rosettes all around the center and the top right of the piece. You can just make out small pieces of epidote on the very top right tracking down in the center of the crease that is near the top right and an additional piece that is center and just slightly left I use this shot to highlight the epidote that clustered underneath a single rosette of quartz crystals that stick out at the cardinal directions as well as the subordinate directions almost like a compass rose of quartz on a bed of epidote in the top left of the photo. In the center alone piece of epidote since nestled in a similar rosette of quartz crystals by itself the red Matrix with its Rusty color is a long the bottom right trending towards the center To highlight The Matrix Stone itself flipped it on its side so you can see the underneath there are some beginnings of epidote clusters in green and light green I also think there are some copper secondaries leaching into this a streak of red goes through the center it's very deep and noticeable and almost powdery in nature whereas along the right side it is orange it defines different levels of iron content but this is by enlarge the best shot of the epidote itself in the piece as it's growing underneath in the quartz is growing around it

Today's ROTD is Phrenite with Epidote:
Prehnite is an inosilicate of calcium and aluminium, Epidote is a calcium aluminum iron sorosilicate mineral.
This piece is from Mali and is very poseable.
This combo is almost eerily calming when you hold it.
It combines something rare with something common.
The phrenite is light green and the epidote is dark green and perpendicular to the phrenite. It looks like a man-bird in this view, but you can see how the epidote mixed with the phrenite, halting it's growth. This is a good shot of how the minerals blend at the end of the stone. This highlights the Betroydal knobs off of the main crystals that are really clear. Very nice piece of light green phrenite, and the epidote is forest green.

Today's ROTD ⚒️ 🧪 is Epidote on Phrenite, one of my all time faves!
Prehnite is an inosilicate of calcium and aluminium and is light green in color.
Epidote is a calcium aluminium iron sorosilicate mineral and is very dark green in color.
These make fantastic specimins, as green is one of my favs.
Roughly oval in shape, the contrast of the dark green and the light green of the piece where epidote is the dark green and the phrenite, which is light green is striking. There is clearly iron present, with the orange/yellow on the top left curve. Swapping the side, the light green frenite really pops here. The epidote is almost black by comparison. It's really a lively mix of different crystal forms and types. From the side, there is a large phrenite crystal that really pops in the center left of the piece. This also shows the inclusion of different component minerals that discolor the right side to a burnished yellow. In the top Center here, this is a really nice chunk of phrenite and as you travel across the top ridge, there is a speck of what appears to be black, which is the hallmark of the epidote in the piece.

Corundum is a crystalline form of aluminium oxide, while Lawsonite is hydrous calcium aluminium sorosilicate.
Really, the battle for best aluminum begins now. #teamruby
This is my corundrum hexagon. Pale pink, it's about 1.25 -1.5 in at the widest point and about 3/4 an inch thick. Has some inclusions that are black and lustrous, which makes it interesting to me, but not for the contest. A different angle of the corundrum lying flat instead of in one of the hexagon sides. Green lawsonite in matrix (not mine) Pink lawsonite, really reminds me of halite.
