For the chestpiece, I've hunted down an iron banner chestplate with the short furry shoulders to act as a sort of precursor to her current "maned" shoulders. Ditto with the engraving on her chestplate, although beyond this armor being commissioned by Shaxx I don't have many lore reasons for it.
