ugh everything is so difficult and depressing in publishign these days

I think this is case where it's not super useful to individualize responsibility for a systemic problem. We've had 15 years of self-flagellation and acrimony about scientist publishign behavior while big publishers cannily turned OA into a massive new grant $ siphon with no pushback from funders.

Currently publishign is Friday, and I'm writing Tuesday.
