Yup. Before the ACA insurance wasn't required to cover preventative screenings (like mammograms) but things like that are now covered, but that doesn't include blood work, xrays, MRIs, etc. And since my deductible is so high, I have to pay for them out of pocket.

Victoria will be akin to Queensland when it changes youth justice laws to "adult time for violent crime". Advocates say the prison system isn't built to treat the issues kids have.

These are punitive measures but what are the preventative ones? #springst www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

One day.

Fall asleep with a headache, wake up with paralysis on one side, and that was just the beginning.

Future, undone overnight.
Lost job, housing, friends, etc

Some are adamant it's somehow my doing, like i wanted it.

Proper preventative medicine may have caught it before it got this far.

Not quite - I ran a drop-in centre which was very effective.
In the early-mid 70's, governments across the country stopped funding such preventative services because of the recurrent cost to budgets.

Kirklees Council is tackling homelessness through preventative housing solutions.

But councils can’t prevent homelessness without adequate resources.

Prevention works. But councils need the resources to deliver it. #AutumnBudget2025

Pretty much impossible to get rid of.

Super heat wash everything and wrap it in plastic after and freeze it.

Steam all your furniture and get some DE.

Even then you're talking like a year of preventative measures. And like rats, if next door has them: so do you.

1st Mammogram complete ✅ Not that bad…the tech was super cool and the whole process is quite interesting. I can’t wait to see the pics! I enjoy anatomy a lot actually 🩻

I don’t take for granted the access I have to preventative care…and dammit I dont understand why all can’t have it either 😔

They didn’t cover you if you had any condition or were pregnant, or they excluded the condition. Discouraged preventative care. Before ACA I never went to the doctor for a checkup despite having insurance. I had no insurance as a student. Delayed a surgery until condition became life-threatening. 2)

Ours is going from $460 to $2160 for two people and the deductibles went up too. But at least it paid for preventative care. The private insurance we'll have to get won't or prescriptions.

ACA—(Obamacare)—is NOT an insurance policy. It is a law that requires insurance companies to allow people with preexisting conditions to have coverage; requires the government to make sure that no person or family is pays more than 9% of their household income, provides preventative care at no cost

Therapeutic Approach
Victoria, Australia
The State will now treat, trial and punish 14-year-olds as adults. This may include life sentences. Expert advice and research is clear: punitive 'consequences' don't work, but preventative, therapeutic and culturally appropriate measures - will.

I'm sorry to hear you got such shoddy care. The NHS is rubbish at preventative health care and seems worse than normal when it's mental health. I'm glad you're feeling better.

This is the norm. My shingled roof is 20 years old and my insurance company has given me 1 yr to replace it. My wood stove was 20 yrs old and I had to replace it. My hot water tank was 12 yrs old and I had to replace it. It’s preventative. Homes are expected to be kept in good repair.
