Taxes as preventative medicine certainly makes sense to me

Normalize talking about your screening colonoscopy. They’re important preventative health measures
I turned "time for your first routine colonoscopy" years old this year. I'll be going through the prep process today and I plan on posting regular updates on this thread. Follow along for all the fun! And if you've turned 45, it's time for you to get this important screening test too!

Proper healthcare and preventative treatments are incompatible with capitalism's goal of profit maximization.

The profit motive needs to be entirely removed from the realm of healthcare.

Next will be preventative care and guaranteed coverage.

And business owners will thrive.

Rep. John McGuire: "We need to rethink healthcare in America. It needs to be a preventative healthcare system, not a reactive, put-a-bandaid-on system that we have...you cannot exercise your way out of bad nutrition. Eat right, exercise right, lead a healthy lifestyle, & maybe have early screenings"

Trump’s plan—send the money to the people (won’t happen) so they can pay the money to insurance companies…with zero ACA protections.

Reminder of some of the protections ACA offers:
Young adults (age 26 and under) on their parents’ plan, people with disabilities, woman, pregnancies, preventative
Trump wants to end the ACA. He said Republicans should send ACA payments meant for insurers directly to Americans.

The math isn’t mathing. My premium’s up way more than the tax credit, and everyone’s costs are different. How would they manage that when they can’t manage basic governance?

I don’t want to negotiate my coverage

I don’t want to ‘feel like’ an entrepreneur

I want accessible preventative healthcare

For Americans already having to forego preventative screenings or go without necessary medications or decline life-saving treatments, having their medical costs rise substantially will mean a slide further into both poverty and illness.

Congrats Alberta! We helped Canada win this prestigious distinction.

Our Prov. govt has single handedly ushered this in... and yet we now have our own Health Minstry for Primary and Preventative Health Services...

How's that working out AB?

Newsagents, the BBC and Hannah Barnes did not report this recent tragedy which the coroner blamed on lack of access to preventative healthcare.

I don't want to feel like an entrepreneur, I want to be able to go to the doctor for general preventative care and not worry about going broke

Hooray for preventative care!

and yet hsa-based health insurance doesn’t adequately cover regular doctor’s visits or preventative medications

“yes i would like to pay $90/month on generic medications because i’ve not hit my deductible yet”
—statement dreamed up by the utterly deranged

Ours is going from $460 to $2160 for two people and the deductibles went up too. But at least it paid for preventative care. The private insurance we'll have to get won't or prescriptions.

When I was a kid, my parent's paid between $500-$1000 a month for my asthma meds because their insurance denied coverage under "pre-existing conditions". Now my asthma meds are covered 100% as preventative care under the ACA.
One of the most important provisions of the ACA was eliminating pre-existing conditions exclusions from insurance plans.

Folks need to be reminded that if the ACA goes away, so does that provision.

Oh FFS
Even if they sent the entire subsidy every month into an HSA for us, we'd burn through it with preventative care alone. God forbid one of us should actually get sick & need even a minor surgery.

It's no replacement at all.
November 9, 2025 at 9:27 PM
Ugh they are so close to getting it, they only spent the entire Obama years blasting nutrition suggestions and exercise as communist and against preventative care as it was the nanny state. How does one get preventative care without insurance???

In 2024, problems with Amtrak's overheard wires caused a "summer of hell" on New Jersey's rail network. But although there were 415 train cancellations caused by Amtrak issues in July 2024, that number fell to just 17 in July 2025 after preventative maintenance was done.
www.nj.com/news/2025/11...
Amtrak spent $27M in rail line improvements to avoid a hellish summer commute. Did it pay off?
It was a hefty pricetag, but officials said more work must be done.

(and even that initial acceptable level of preventative work is there only because failure to be wise as serpents about scamming *functionally takes money from the hands of those in need*. even then it's not about some sort of right of my own re: that money that needs vindicating)
November 9, 2025 at 1:37 PM
Without ACA, we will be without ACA laws which forbid discrimination due to preexisting conditions, will be subject to annual limits on benefits, will have no free preventative services, cannot keep kids on plan until 26, will be subject to sudden exorbitant raises in premiums.

Damn Dem sell-outs

Suggest the Queensland parliament suspend blame here & discuss sensibly the solutions. How can our state reduce the two biggest crimes in the ABS dataset; DV & sexual assault? What preventative measures can our state take? It's a house of debate not blame. #qldpol
Queenslanders have said there's less police presence on our roads. Data backs that up. Officers are stretched. Prior to the election the Commissioner said they were attending large volumes of DV cases. Crisafulli has them on youth crime now as well. #qldpol

I don’t take for granted the access I have to preventative care…and dammit I dont understand why all can’t have it either 😔
