TIL that old anime figures can get sticky from the plasticizer seeping out of the figure. Weirdly enough, I've had my cheerful candy Rin figure for 12 years now, and it looks fine? Same with one of my miniature Miku figures. However, becoming sticky was an issue for my old Rin nendoroid.

I was wondering that too but I’m not sure tbh. I might wash them and then let sit a few days to make sure the oil isn’t leaking from the plastic itself because I’m not 100% sure they’re covered in hair oil and not some sort of plasticizer

A good cleaning out will fix the switch right up so long as the contacts didn't burn badly in the process. PVC plasticizer in old wiring is a pain in the ass, I find it in so much stuff. Nice terminal too, I should show you my Honeywell someday!

A non working ADM3a followed me home today. it's in great shape and no signs of cataracts appearing on the CRT. Dates from very late 1979/early 1980.

Some initial diagnoses found that the power switch is bad. Plasticizer leaching from the power cord has rendered the switch inoperable

Reference to 2-ethylhexanoic acid made me think of 2-ethylhexanol, and then dioctylphthalate and the plasticizer contamination nightmares (😱) most synthetic chemists have endured at one point in their chemical lives.
