which city are you in right now? i took a plane to hokkaido from tokyo which is fun in the winter. otaru is a great town to visit near sapporo.
ikkebukuro is kind of the new otaku hotspot since akihabara is pretty mid nowadays. if you like retro anime stuff definitely visit nakano broadway.
