yea idk. just feels like more a case of "nixos isnt for me" rather than "nixos is bad", "nix isnt for me" or "nix is bad"

I'm in a period where I actually want to work on the computer after work (It doesn't happen very often).

The current shiny tinsel is declarative Linux stuff, originally NixOS, but now particularly Guix.

idk. each to their own ig but i just see people calling nixos awful all the time cause they try to force it to be something its not in which case it is very awful yea. cause it *can* do a lot of that but its not gonna be a good experience cause its not well supported

also on the code thing it sounds like you were caught by the "trying to make nixos like other distros" thing with that too? like trying to use some notion of "system libraries" to dev with? dev shell are one of the reasons i love nix i use them even on non-nixos systems cause theyre that damn useful
