Fix random "only endian='native' allowed for NETCDF3 files" error by msakai · Pull Request #1355 · Unidata/netcdf4-python
When I open NetCDF3 files using netCDF4.Dataset(filename, "r"), I sometimes get the following errors and sometimes not.
File "src/netCDF4/_netCDF4.pyx", line 2489, in netCDF4....

Just did an inventory of my 8 conda environments:
7 different versions of numpy, pandas, scipy
6 different versions of matplotlib, python, requests
5 different versions of cartopy, tropycal, xarray
4 different versions of metpy, pint, shapely
3 different versions of geopandas, netcdf4
🤣😢

easy_install. It was easy_install.
pip itself isn't horrible, it was the issues with binary compatibility, which was really bad when you needed tools like numpy, gdal, and netcdf4 to work together. It is better now, but conda really nails it.

I wrote a special module for it, it's not difficult, more so annoying lol.
With the module, it's as easy as passing a netcdf4 dataset obj of your data and a lat/lon in a build_wrf_sounding() function

We’re also looking for volunteer reviewers! We’d love to find someone with expertise in atmospheric sciences and an interest in raindrop size distribution to help review the disdrodb Python package.

why in #xarray a simple operation such as querying what are the different group's name is stored in a netcdf involves using backend calls? the same operation so much easier if using the #netCDF4 module.
I wasted 2 hours figuring out that group name identification is easier using netCDF4. #python

science peeps why is xarray so popular if it's so slow I've been waiting for 40 minutes for something to run that I could have written and run in less than 10 minutes with netcdf4 and numpy

QGIS peeps, little help here, what do you do when qgis does not display a netcdf4 file despite the correct projection?

Ah ok yeah that makes sense. When using OPENDAP, I had to set my engine='netcdf4' when opening the data via xarray. One long-term part of the wxdata project (definitely not at launch) will be to download climate data as well which that is .nc rather than .grib2 which should be nice.

Like i made this visualizer for past climates which unpacks temperature and precipitation in each month from a netcdf4 file and shows a map of averages and the actual values for each month. There's nothing sophisticated code-wise but it would have taken me months to put it together myself.
