#Artoftheday I was purchasing seeds at a #wildbird store and the lady behind the counter said everyone has their favorite #local #bird #nativefauna She was surprised I was a #woodpecker #sapsucker lover because most people detest them. Try a nest of babies #art #artshare #watercolor @bsky.art

The Eastern Rosellas have been enjoying our olives this year, so I left them a bunch of fruit on the tree to encourage them to hang around and return next year. This one popped in to say thanks. You’re welcome my friend, you’re welcome!

Happy World Wildlife Day!
The AW region is home to some remarkable species, each making a contribution to the ecological system. While some are widely recognised, others remain elusive and are rarely seen.

Sometimes I see a snake or field mouse using an opening in the planter boxes. I support them. It’s a wildlife friendly garden. Bearberry (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi) in the foreground. #nativeflora #nativefauna #wildlifefriendly

On our wander tonight we saw eight and a half #kangaroos, which sounds horrific but was actually wholesome because the half was a #joey sticking only its head out of its mum's pouch 🦘🩵

2023 may have been the year I felt like death after getting Lyme disease (see previous post), but it's also the year I was lucky enough to find this beautiful Luna hanging onto a Virginia creeper leaf stem. She (I think?) was returned to the base of the trees where I found her. #NativeFauna

I love Budgies! We had a green one growing up called “Buntie the budgie” my cousin breeds them, my grandfather bred them. (Both sides of family). Would love to see a huge flock like this in the wild. #budgie #birds #australia #nativefauna
In honour of long videos on Bluesky here’s a long video of the best bird in the world - budgies!
One of the most common birds in arid Australia, big flocks of these birds are such a thrill - the sound of their wingbeats and happy chirrups is so gorgeous and exhilarating!🪶
