Think you know your comic characters? What about DC's Matter-Eater Lad? Hailing from the Legion of Super-Heroes in the 31st century, Matter-Eater Lad, who's real name is Tenzil Kem, is from the planet Bismoll, where everyone has the natural ability to eat any kind of matter, from metal to stone. Some of the oddest things he's eaten are metal doors and walls, radioactive waste and alien weaponry. He first appeared in Adventure Comics #303 from 1962 and he was mostly treated as a joke character for a long time. In the 1960s and 1970s Legion stories, he appeared sporadically—sometimes in team lineups or one-off gags—but he was never a major player. He has made some appearances in recent years mostly in 2017's "Batman '66 Meets the Legion of Super-Heroes". Despite being considered a joke you can find Matter-Eater Lad in animation, video games and plenty of merchandise. That lad gets around.
