Y'know, ironically, I think there's something of a kernel of a great idea about turning a personification of the Corporate IP Copyright AI-slopifcation into a horror movie monster ... ideally one that murders techbros. 🤔

I have roasted them but - perhaps because this is a crown royal squash rather than a true pumpkin - they are still impossible to get out of the shells, only about 5 of which burst open to release the yummy kernel

rest is going in a green curry

Linux kernel prepares historic shift: enabling Microsoft C Extensions globally with Torvalds' blessing. Critical runc vulnerabilities threaten all Docker/Kubernetes deployments. And legal personhood for non-humans gets weird.

Linux kernel developers are moving toward enabling Microsoft C Extensions (-fms-extensions) by default in Linux 6.19, with Linus Torvalds signaling no objection. The patches in kbuild-next suggest the project is ready to "bite the bullet" and adopt the extensions system-wide. (Like malware does!)
The Linux Kernel Looks To "Bite The Bullet" In Enabling Microsoft C Extensions
Two patches queued into the Linux kernel's build system development tree, kbuild-next, would enable the -fms-extensions compiler argument everywhere for allowing GCC and LLVM/Clang to use the Microsof...

"But I do have a kernel of some old familiar faith, the same those stories of Jesus once gave me. Those old stories, true or myth, or myth carrying truth, I won't venture. But I now hold with me an index of brave, real people who endured and did something radical in speaking up for goodness […]

Windows Containers run Windows or Linux images as you prefer and have an isolation option where each container runs in an optimized VM and thus effectively gets its own kernel; this goes back to Windows Server 2016 and it's been the default in Windows 10 since 2018

96 straight hours of compiling later, I finally have a modern kernel on this thing with a usable OS 9 dualboot with Linux, and oh boy is it magical
The full dump log of this system booting is a treasure trove of data that will help me emulate this platform inside PCSX2, I finally have all the pieces

Linux has a kernel module called 'nosy' that essentially behaves exactly the same, is open source and extendable, and can log data indefinitely in a nicely compressed format that is ram and cpu friendly. Perfect, so I'll just install Linux on this G3 and I'll be on my way!

The problem is that people lack political imagination. The kernel of truth is that "a lifetime of debt" has already been the default experience of a large portion of the population for decades and "home ownership" is either a dream or deferred indefinitely. We need to know it gets worse and it is!

Lesson from the Creek:
Inside each kernel is a drop of water. When it heats up, the steam builds pressure until the starch explodes into a puff. Too little heat = chewy. Too much = burned.
Just right = snack perfection.

It started with a pop.
Then a POW!
Then a DON’T OPEN THAT LID! from Miss Luna.
Buzz swore he could pop every kernel faster if he turned the heat up “just a little higher.”
Result: popcorn meteor shower.

Effort of securing a multi service Linux cloud server over many years has only increased so I'm unconvinced the grass is greener. I've found Debian secure the most maintainable - which seems to allow Linux user land utilities with a BSD kernel. Could be the Linux user land is better supported.
