the prequels are bad movies but at least they are in some way art - confused, badly executed art, but with the kernel of creativity and substance in them. 8 is like that too. 7 and 9 are just voids, a product of a spiritually bankrupt creation process.

this goes to the bigger issue of SenateBrain, that it's a rarefied club with rules and subtleties to complex for us non-senators to understand and what the senate should do is above voters and non-senators pay grade. that attitude is the kernel problem.

Unix v4 tape found. Apparently no other complete copies are known to exist. It was the first version in which the kernel was written in C. It also had minor changes to the UNIX file system (such as the ability of any inode to hold a device 'special file'.

The Guardian (1990) Dir. William Friedkin – There’s an interesting kernel of a great film buried here. A mix of supernatural horror and eco-fable about a nanny with sinister, arboreal motives. People also point out planned obsolescence in appliances and the new weird spyware in software programming. It was in fact better when your fridge didn't need AWS to work and didn't try to spam you with advertisements, or before video game companies tried kernel level anti-cheat.

TIL if you pass an incorrect (but not null) pointer to fseek() you can crash the xbox kernel. Lovely

Kernel-pult makes a cameo (missing the catapult) during Garlic Drone's Corn Strike ability when falling from the sky. When the corn hits the ground, it turns into a different model entirely and loses the eyes and leaves.
A blink and you'll miss it moment!

Like, are you genuinely arguing Kernel-Level anti-cheat, which exposes your system to a whole new surface area for attack vectors and was invented in the last five years or so! is an "improvement" on VG companies not having OS system privileges to your machine?

i have resisted calling myself that for a long time, but, i barely slept last night because i could still feel the place in my mouth that a popcorn kernel had Touched Me Wrong a full 48 hours prior. sometimes when this happens i lie awake and reconsider my stance on labels

I agree on the whole that the obsession with Mamdani's position on one issue alone is irrational but but there is a kernel of rationalism here insofar as Mamdani is now able to be an influential interlocutor on this issue domestically, and can platform ideas which are not typically heard.

The number of times I've opened up network penetration test tools to crack a faulty u-boot implementation or exploit an unsigned kernel in a device that's supposed to have secure boot is zero because conventional network penetration testing works at the wrong layer for the job.

Today I learned that Sun Microsystems created an OS based on Java called "Java OS," where everything except the kernel (device drivers, windowing system, etc.) was built with Java and ran on the JVM

Lukas Meixner (CM Lead for Sonic Rumble) speaks on the criticism the game is facing and says they are already working on some ideas to potentially implement.
In other good news, the Kernel Level anti-cheat is no longer present in the PC version, it now utilizes a less intrusive one.
