Wheeler, "Vowel duration in Enenlhet" guarant.cz/icphs2023/10... This language has /a, e, o/ (no /i/ or /u/). Vowel length has been reported for related languages but this language doesn't look like it has it.

Belmar & Jeremías "Morphology and phonetic realization: lexical vs. morphological prenasalization in Sàꞌán Sàvǐ ñà ñuù Xnúvíkó (Mixtec)" guarant.cz/icphs2023/67... The pronunciation of prenasalised stops varies depending on whether the sound is underlying or morphologically derived.

Christiansen, "Spectral implications of codec compression on voiceless fricatives" guarant.cz/icphs2023/58... Codec encoding (e.g. MP3) influences acoustic measurements on fricatives. This is the first work I'm aware of that looks at this question for fricatives!

Lengeris & Zatrazemi, "Effects of FFP2 face masks on consonant identification" guarant.cz/icphs2023/62... In Greek, they observed a 5 percentage points reduction in the ability to identify consonants in /aCa/ frame in masked speech relative to unmasked speech.

Shinohara & Shao, "An acoustic study of the fricative vowel in two endangered Ryukyuan languages" guarant.cz/icphs2023/38... I have a soft spot for Ryukyuan languages. Here a vowel produced with simultaneous frication noise appears to be similar to that reported in other languages.

Parkman, "Changes in fundamental frequency and F1 across chronological age" guarant.cz/icphs2023/16... Only weak evidence for age-related changes in F0 and F1. Age is widely used as a variable yet it's poorly understood - I'd not considered that angle before, fascinating work.

Bauernfeind et al, "Change across the lifespan in GOAT: Evidence from a panel study of Tyneside English" guarant.cz/icphs2023/53... There are four competing variants for the GOAT vowel in Tyneside English: [øː], [oː], [oʊ], [ʊə]. No wonder teaching transcription is hard!

Continuing the prenasalisation theme, Rangelov has a paper on a prenasalised *trill* which appears in two languages of Vanuatu: "The acoustic and articulatory properties of the prenasalised coronal trill in two Oceanic languages" guarant.cz/icphs2023/10...

Shaktawat, "The Effect of Age of Entry and Contact on Backward Transfer of Glaswegian English (L2) on Hindi and Indian English (L1)" guarant.cz/icphs2023/10... After moving to Scotland, some Hindi speakers have sounds become more similar to English and some become more different.
