附録には、中つ国の地図や「王の手紙」のファクシミリ版（と解説書に書いてある）などもついています。

豪華版マニアというわけではないのですが、『指輪物語』の挿絵入り豪華版を手にしてしまったために、『コンプリートガイド』もせっかくなら。と思ったかどうかは、いまとなっては分かりませんが、こちらは比較的おとなしめです。

ご覧のように事典形式で、中つ国（ミドルアース）に関連する書項目を解説しています。

巻末には系図や索引も完備していますので、物語を読みながら気になるところが出てきたら、いつでもこれ1冊で調べられますよ。
