In the end what else could it be? We end this series of flower-themed Gintama art with Shoyo-sensei and cherry blossoms.

Shinpachi and Elizabeth look puzzled, Gintoki looks unimpressed, and Kagura, who's chewing sukonbu, looks pretty blank. Gintoki has opened his mouth but we don't know what he's saying.

The zinnia flower symbolizes 'loyalty' and 'endurance' in Japanese flower language. I like the unusual way it looks.

Gintama Flower Suite, Part 23: Japanese Snake Gourd for Nobume
The Japanese Snake Gourd is a fascinating plant with tall thin fruits. Its white flowers look very unique and bloom only at night.
Very beautiful, very unusual and strange. I think this flower fits Nobume well.

I chose the sweet pea for Bansai for 2 reasons: the shape of the petals remind people of violins, which together with its sweet scent cause it to be associated with music. But the petals' shape is also reminiscent of butterflies...

Forget-me-not for Yamazaki!

Staying under the radar is good for doing spy work, but sometimes Yamazaki would like to be less easily overlooked, so the sweet forget-me-not flower seems right for him... 💙

Gintama Flower Suite, Part 13: Sunflower for Kondo and Hinowa
Both Kondo and Hinowa are strongly associated with the sun in Gintama. I wanted to give both of them the sunflower, that tall, beautiful, luminous flower. Hence this combination picture!
