It’s the Great Backyard Bird Count this weekend (through Monday 2/19), and the L.A. Arboretum was a great place to bird-listen yesterday with @birdsoftheworld.bsky.social’s fascinating Merlin Bird app. Plus, we saw a neat red-shouldered hawk, an egret, and other birds who remained silent! #GBBC2024

What are you doing this #weekend? I just did a 15 min #bird count. All I saw was a pair of (delightful) American Crows. But that’s still DATA for the scientists benefiting from the Great Backyard Bird Count #GBBC2024 🪶🪺. It’s easy and fun, so get out there and take part! www.birdcount.org

Update on Great Backyard Bird Count. Just checking out the counts of species (first column) and checklists (second column). Gotta work a little harder in Canada to get that species count 🤣😂🪶 GBBC2024
