New sightings of red squirrels on Rosneath Peninsula
Red squirrels were spotted in Kilcreggan, Helensburgh and beside the Gareloch this year, a new study has revealed. The results of this year’s Great Scottish Squirrel Survey have been announced by Saving Scotland’s Red Squirrels (SSRS). More than 1,100 people took part and 1,563 squirrels were recorded – 407 greys and 1,020 confirmed reds. The partnership project encouraged people all across Scotland to keep an eye out for both red and grey squirrels between October 6-12, for its seventh annual survey, providing a snapshot of squirrel populations up and down the country.

Registration open for New Year’s Dook
Are you ready to take on a chilly challenge for a good cause? Registration is now open for the New Year’s Dook, which takes place on January 1 at 12 noon from the Lifeboat Station at Rhu Marina. The event is organised by the RNLI in conjunction with Rhu Marina. Registrations are online only again this year and will close on December 30 - there will be no registrations at the event.
