Grouped my seniors by career pathway for a Socratic Seminar.

What started as a required literacy task turned into real conversations about their futures.

“But I think the bigger danger is that a lot of them are going to get beaten to submission because they don’t want to lose their jobs.”

Alright, #booksky, what book recommendations do we have for 9th grade readers? I’m a new teacher and building up my classroom library. It’s a struggle to get my kids to read, and many refuse to pick up denser YA novels even if I get something specific to their interests. Help?! #ELAteachers

#ELATeachers, highly recommend reading “First They Came” and “Courage in Denmark” with students. Both are available on CommonLit. Both discuss being a bystander vs. standing up against negative social change.
