Forgot to post for #DayofDH2024!! Presented alongside other members of my 1st year @ucftandt.bsky.social cohort, like @alyssab7.bsky.social, about the research I'm embarking on in the coming year— a series on how fans of poetry contest its meaning + how poets with varying degrees of celebrity write!

The media studies students went so hard on their digital archive projects yesterday that they maxed out our shared disk space. Woke up to a dozen panicked midnight emails so now it's not even 9 AM and I'm throwing together an emergency Omeka mirror. Pow! Let's call it le longue #dayofdh2024

And new up: Collections Consultation Data. This is anonymised data about reading room consultations of physical items.

It's not the full picture (no eresources, maps, moving image/sound, serials, archives/MSS) but the start of wider work to release this info:

The rest of #DayOfDH2024 was spent writing an exam essay while taking care of a child sent home from daycare due to a stomach bug that materialized ten minutes after drop off 🌈🤢

And as I am a #DHLibrary person (to some extent) this #DayOfDH2024 also meant looking at the Academy Library BSky Guide made by @nedpotter.bsky.social to see where/how there are overlaps and useful perspectives with the guide made by Amanda Wyatt Visconti www.ned-potter.com/blog/bluesky...
The Library Guide to Bluesky — Ned Potter

2024 has been incredibly difficult professionally/ personally. Had a mtg w/ a #DH colleague to come up w/ a plan. It was restorative and empathic. Heartening to know someone else has been through this. That it took place on #DayofDH2024 was a lovely coincidence! Grateful for our community of care.

Next order of business in my #DayOfDH2024 was to correspond with the Chairs of the #DH2025 Program Committee (of which I am a member) to discuss the keynote speakers, and I could not be more excited. I know that they will bring something special and visionary to our community next year in Portugal!
December 3, 2024 at 8:27 AM
Next up in my #DayOfDH2024 was corresponding with #EADH Trustees about our upcoming meeting discuss what we want to accomplish in the next year. I have recently been appointed Deputy Chair and will be joining @adho-org.bsky.social COB meetings alongside some excellent international colleagues.

Yesterday, as part of my #DayofDH2024, I shared the Bsky starter guide created by the inimitable @literaturegeek.bsky.social with some colleagues interested in making the move (and encouraging students to move) from other sites. An amazingly helpful document! docs.google.com/document/d/1...

AND because the world is a strange place, and because the precarity of public goods and infrastructures, especially digital infrastructures, is hard to overstate, on this #dayofdh2024 I also donated to Wikipedia, something which in my 20s I was proud not to do.

Happy to log in and catch the last hours of #dayofdh2024 today. By chance I did, today, work on resurrecting my github to work more easily with TCP some files and think about how doing PCA on XML requires different culling parameters, while fretting about the installation of furniture in our DH lab.

For #DayOfDH2024 I am writing up a data paper for a recently completed dataset, reconciling lists of markets from two different sources, and finding that last year David Lawrenson finished a monumental PhD studying markets using 50 variables over 1000 years!

The right to hold a market on England was historically granted by royal charter. Such a privilege provides an alternative to population size as a proxy for importance. This dataset contains the latitu...

I spent the last 5 hours on eldercare and family time, but managed to get a release out the door tonight: FromThePage 24.12-pre, a pre-release version of the codebase with an upgrade to Ruby 3 and Rails 7.

That ends #DayOfDH2024 for me.

I didn’t realize it was #DayOfDH2024 until today, but this is an example of Newtoning DH par excelence. We also had project meetings, and I managed to get 3 manuscripts out of the citation pipeline into the review pipeline, and wrote several v satisfying bibliographical notes for tricky citations!
#BookHistory and #Bibliography friends, do you have a nice way to represent swash capitals in online quasi-facsimile title page transcriptions? I was doing some QFT today and found a book with swash letters while Newtoning, & after consulting fellow bibliographer, we're not sure what to do about it

My #dayofdh2024 was just about having meetings with my amazing colleagues in our department. DH is nice. Bluesky is giving those old twitter vibes

just saw #DayOfDH2024 is a thing, I have been working on fine-tuning the morpheus fork for Morcus.net by correcting transcription errors in the text of Juvenal's Satires and adding missed forms to the parser

First post on BlueSky, celebrating #DayOFDH2024! Presented and heard about some exciting in-progress research with UCF’s DCRG and Texts and Technology program. 😊

On this #DayofDH2024 I did what I usually do on weekdays, added some metadata for the 23 #Manuscripts that the #Vatican uploaded today, tried to transcribe 17th C Italian, and triumphantly announce that the 12th and final volume of the monumental Boncompagni Ludovisi Missal is now online for you!
