#ClimateChange with all the chatter around Epstein and Mandelson, Climate change has dropped from the agenda but it’s still going on!

William Nordhaus received the Nobel Memorial Prize for these flawed economic models, and Bjorn Lomborg built a highly lucrative career on them.
They told rich and powerful people what they wanted to hear.
While helping to consign us all to catastrophe.

New research challenges a strategy previously believed to boost carbon storage and tackle #climatechange.

5 things climate change has affected in Houston and southeast Texas
The Houston skyline is seen in this file image from 2020. HOUSTON – Climate change is more than a buzz word -- it can be seen and felt across our communities. Climate Central reports that in 2025, climate and weather disasters costed $115 billion in damages, ranking it the third costliest year on record. Recommended Videos While Houston missed direct landfalls from tropical storms and hurricanes in 2025, the city is no stranger to historic storms like Hurricane Harvey . Here is a list of five ways changes in our climate are impacting southeast Texas. Increasing frequency and intensity of heat waves More intense rainstorms, longer dry periods Heavier rainfalls that lead to catastrophic flooding mean costly repairs and higher flood insurance rates across the Houston area. Although Houston did not see any major hurricanes this tropical season, we did experience moderate to extreme drought conditions across southeast Texas in 2025. Warmer sea surface temperatures Warming sea surface temperatures are putting aquatic life at risk of disease, leading to algal blooms and changes in salinity, all factors that make it hard for species like oysters to thrive. We noticed an impact on the oyster population in oyster-harvesting areas of Galveston...

How climate change, human psychology are making this US cold snap feel so harsh
The brutally frigid weather that has gripped most of America for the past 11 days is not unprecedented. It just feels that way. The first quarter of the 21st century was unusually warm by historical standards — mostly due to human-induced climate change — and so a prolonged cold spell this winter is unfamiliar to many people, especially younger Americans. Because bone-shattering cold occurs less frequently, Americans are experiencing it more intensely now than they did in the past, several experts in weather and behavior said. But the longer the current icy blast lasts, the easier it should become to tolerate. "We adapt, we get used to things. This is why your first bite of dessert is much more satisfying than your 20th bite," Hannah Perfecto, who studies consumer behavior at Washington University in St. Louis, wrote in an email. "The same is true for unpleasant experiences: Day 1 of a cold snap is much more a shock to the system than Day 20 is." Charlie Steele, a 78-year-old retired federal worker in Saugerties, New York, considers himself a lover of cold weather. But this January's deep-freeze is "much, much colder than anything I can remember," he said. Steele's sense...
