Just 3.5% of residential burglaries will result in a charge. Yet when there's a homeless person in a supermarket car park, there's often 5 police cars there to move him on or lock him up.

Policing needs to be reprioritised to focus on real people (who pay tax), not corporations (that avoid tax).

The thing is that humans are bad at statistics --rural areas I've known anything about have higher crime rates, just that to a New Yorker one burglary and one or two murders a year seems low. If the population is 16,000 to 18,000, that's a larger percentage of burglaries and murders than New York.
