The photo is of two posts back to back. The first is a post from @ekvitki.bsky.social that says "Some cool cloud pictures I've taken" with four breathtakingly vibrant photos of light and dark clouds, deep blue skies and brilliant rays of sun. The second is a post from @pimscrypt.bsky.social and is captioned "Anyway here's a series of images I accidentally took while my phone was in my pocket. True to their word, there are several photos of indiscernible quality. The first three are red and blurry, with odd splatterings of grey and dark vignettes about. The last one is a strange very pixelated brown/green/grey mush, it looks kind of like a zoomed in picture of some soil. The juxtaposition is very silly, and shows why I love BlueSky so much.

Hallett Peak as the sun begins to rise in the morning. Lichens adorn this boulder at Bear Lake in RMNP. The clouds were just starting to clear as the sun rose, creating amazing colors. A dramatic and colorful sunrise lights up Hallett Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park near Estes Park, CO. Fortunately, there was just enough light to get a reflection in the water. The twisted roots of a few trees struggle to reach for whatever they need, or perhaps find everything they need on the shore of Bear Lake in RMNP. Sunrise is a special time at the lake.

FUCK. Wrote an entire thing and it just DISAPPEARED. I fucking HATE that so much. What would seem to be a rather prosaic scene on a hilltop of a green tree on the left and a reddening one on the right, split to reveal a cloudy grey sky in the picture’s background overlooking a “busy” intersection in this relatively small northern Michigan town… becomes something a little more interesting when you focus on that line at the horizon. That’s the sunrise, creating an electric ribbon of light that crosses through the frame, above everything in the bottom quarter. The contrast of what we know is a BRILLIANT sun pushing upward through a MASS of heavy grey clouds is kind of cool, no? So. Why was my WALK so cool today? I’ve used up most of the ALT Text allotment here, so you’ll just have to move on to the next picture to find out… Look. That large green tree, behind the house, shielding his smaller, more bashful wife ALMOST completely from the paparazzi as she changes into something a little more... sanguine. Nice. SO. My walk! It turned into a BONA FIDE RUN for at least FIVE SONGS. Not a little glacial ersazt jog. A song started playing & I felt like it, so I started running... & it felt GOOD. Like I was 30 again, before pregnancy & MS & years of pain & stagnation & torpor... Oh my god, I was SO HAPPY. The song ended, & instead of PUSHING it, I let the playlist take me. Slowed down. Followed my playlist design... & a few songs later - RUNNING AGAIN! It was MARVELOUS. It didn’t hurt. It wasn’t exhausting. 15 months of building up strength & stamina & speed… & I was RUNNING, Forrest Fucking Gump Style. One song at a time, punctuated by a few slower ones - though still BRISK. I felt like I was 20 years younger - and HEALTHY. (I'll post a link to the playlist later, maybe, if that's of interest. Done it before.) So. This is a row of round green bushes, slowly turning red, lined up by the side of a road I walk each morning. I thought, as I passed by them, "Huh. Leafy balls. Soon be bare branches. I wonder how they grow ROUND like that..." Then pulled up short as I realised they DON'T. Someone CLIPS them into that shape. For surely, if they didn't, these bushes would run rampant over the road... And I felt like an asshole, because I live such a blinkered existence that I've never given a thought to the fact that it's someone's JOB to take care of all this flora I pass every day. Just as I rarely think about everything going on in the world that doesn't affect or impact my life in a way I can IMMEDIATELY & viscerally FEEL, like wars & terrorist attacks, like droughts & refugees crises... I ignore it just as I ignore the fact that there are thousands of people living all around me whose lives are insecure & uncomfortable & painful. MY privileged existence isn’t directly affected, so - fuck them? LOOK AT THAT SMUG FACE! Oh, but I had REASON to be smug today, Bluetopia. I'm OWNING this irritating, supercilious facial expression today. I earned it. Funny thing - I took about FIFTEEN shots after this one, but this is the first & only one I found at all acceptable - & the only one where I'm actually showing what I'm REALLY feeling, instead of posing. All the smiley ones with teeth looked like I was preparing to bite a bitch. So. There you have it. I HAD A GREAT MORNING. Now... I have to figure out how to stop listening to this one song I've had playing NONSTOP ever since I got home. That's... FIVE HOURS? Five hours listening to the same fucking song. There's something seriously WRONG with me. (It's the one I posted - "Angela," by The Lumineers. And it IS a GREAT fucking song. But I bet even The Lumineers would be like, DUDE... PLAY SOMETHING ELSE, you freak.) So. Okay. HAPPY MONDAY, EVERYBODY! 💙

HEY, Bluetopia! Here's my Daily RUN post, from yesterday's successful SECOND day of running the full hour.

I was SO SORE, but I got out there & did it anyway. Much easier, by the way, because it was a GLORIOUS day. Just EXQUISITE.

The sun is setting to the left, off-camera, & its yellowy light spills under the long, thick ribbons of clouds spread across the frame. The majority of the sky above is just a pale blue-grey blanket of cloud-cover; below it all is a group of spindly, naked trees in the yard of a house whose roof we can barely see in the bottom left corner of the frame. This was my second day of a full hour of running, & I was surprisingly sore. I didn't think adding a mere 15 minutes of running would be that taxing - or rather, swapping out 15 minutes of walking for running. Seems a little suss. NEVERTHELESS, I PERSISTED. And it was SUCH a gorgeous day out, how could I fail to enjoy it, sore muscles and all? 62°(albeit it REALLY windy)! Glad I got to enjoy that & take off TODAY, lemme tell you - there's a freezing rain coming down right now & I am VERY happy to have today off from THAT. I started strong & ended strong, by the way. YAY, me...! i am kicking ASS at this shit. An accidentally dynamic picture: I was trying to frame up the hazy sun behind the bare tree, next to the evergreen, all set against the hazy grey sky... And the a jet streaked across the frame as I was setting it up, so that's what I got - the white streak left behind by the jet, across the top of it all. Funny, I thought at first it was in conflict, visually, but looking at it closer, everything is SORT of headed left. Trees leaning left, jet streak up and left. Feels like the entire picture is tilted left...except for the sun in the right side of the bare tree. Balance. I don't know shit about composition, but this strikes me as an interesting composition. All these months of taking pictures (which started purely as a friend's suggestion, a way to distract myself from the pain & tedium that was my primary experience during the first few months of this journey)... I don't know if the pictures have become more interesting or beautiful, but I do know I’ve become more INTERESTED in them. Speaking of dynamic & beautiful pictures: this just feels AMAZING. Top half of the picture is basically all blue (sky), bottom half basically all green (grass), split by a copse of trees in various states of autumn disarray. But the details: in the sky, clouds moving horizontally, criss-crossed by two separate jet streaks, like tracks laid out for a celestial landing in progress; on the grass, the minutiae one sees in a field up close - strewn leaves, divots of dirt, patches of sparseness, lawn mower lines... that clump of trees in the middle turns out to be a bit more than just a few - it seems to spread outwards like an arrow facing away from us... Angles on angles on angles. I took a different route today, & when I got here - this field, next to a small wood, I decided to run a path through the woods & then around the field. It was great. A nice change from neighbourhood streets... My usual route in the afternoon means traffic, so this is nice. Plus I danced without being JUDGED.🤓 Ah, the DREADED SELFIE! They weren't too horrible today, I was fine with them. Never going to be THRILLED with direct sunlight, but whatever. I'm sure my mother will love I'm showing some TOOTH, here... Not exactly a SMILE, but she'll take what she gets and BE GLAD OF IT. (If you're new to this, the selfie thing started for my mom, so she could enjoy my progress on this journey of recovery. Then I started posting these pics on Bluesky & well, yeah - my selfie nonsense was born. A former selfie-hater, now a selfie-abuser; classic case of a teetotaler becoming the very WORST kind of drunk. See it all the time. OH. OH MY GOODNESS. In 5 days I'll have 27 years sober! Wow. Almost forgot all about that. Coming up on 7 years cigarette-free, too. WHERE ARE ALL MY VICES? Oh, right. I don't HAVE any. I'm PERFECT now. Well, I'm sure NOBODY will reprimand me firmly for THAT bratty lie. Puella mala sum. (LOOK IT UP, you lazy bastards.)
