Two mountainous regions today for another parallel study. Just like before, my writing is in the voluminous alt text of each respective image. I think I'll put each of these into this thread going forward, maybe it'll help, or I'll get a major stroke of good luck. Who knows?

The image shows a mountain range in the rear, but the lack of detail in the left half and the excess of detail in the right makes them look like two separate pieces.

In the foreground is a sloping hill that is short on the left side and tall on the right side. The same issue appears of the left side lacking detail, until it reaches the middle of the image where it gains an excess amount. I also notice a 3-d shape appearing beneath the details of the middle and right side of this slope, but it's broken apart by stone and grass details that weren't well executed.

This image shows another mountain range. This time the range itself is much clearer and unified with nice detail. Those details radiate from their centers to the exterior and create identifiable edges. I like how the hill connects to the mountain from all unbroken radline, beginning from the peak

The tress on the hill up front are simpler and more sparse than the original image, but they create fun individual patterns. I can bunch them a little closer and create similar dividers by using time rather than allowing the grass to peek through as much as I did— a note for next time.

My biggest issue is the sky. The clouds in this and the first image are non-descript of the time of day or weather, so I want to focus on those for my next practice session.

More drawing studies today and I think I really enjoy the parallel nature of these. Both of them are simple landscapes with overcast skies, but one is very obviously better than the other.

This is a simple landscape with an overcast sky. I had difficulty making the clouds appear three dimensional, resulting in a big mess that is resolved in the second sketch.

The grassland is messy, but I think it still displays the qualities of a downhill slope.

This is a simple landscape with an overcast sky. I like this one much better than the first. The clouds are still sort of indistinct, but there is some of the qualities of altostratus and altocumulus clouds here. The cumulus sat on top of the altostratus so there were only two opportunities for them to peek through to the ground.

The ground is here better than the former, but it's also much simpler. There's no downhill roll, so I didn't have to make a complex shape out of it, but the details of the grass seem to be exhausted at no benefit to myself.
