Something I’m proud of from recently? Actually it happened today😆, I had a break through in the editing of ‘The Henchmen’s Guide’, figured out a better way to write Theo meeting Sloan, which is a scene that’s been bothering me for awhile now.
On a wet road in a foggy forest, a werewolf so dark it could be described as a silhouette with white eyes, looms over a young man laying on the tarmac in a frozen state of fight or flight. The young man is in a dark pink hoodie which contrasts with the otherwise cool, dark pallet of the scene. An evil looking woman, lazily smearing the blood from her face but only succeeding in spreading the scarlet strain across her whole mouth, making her white canine teeth all the more stark in the surrounding red. She’s wearing a grey tank top with a skull, a cockatrice and the words ‘Reconnecting with my fiendish inclination’ on it. In the foggy darkness of a morning, long before the sun has risen, when the air is still dense with cold and the ground is damp with dew, a centaur, named Rowan, canters though the long grass, kicking up clods, while his gaze remains serious and focus on where he is going. On his back a young squire, named Arley, holds on, looking attentive and steadfast. Rowan is usually such an annoying, goofy uncle, so Arley doesn’t take it lightly when he is as severe as this.

He is rearing back on a muscular black equine body that blends to a pale grey human body which has twisted spikes piercing out of it. These spikes grow sparsely on his chest, then thickly on his shoulders, getting thicker & wider as they grow higher till they crown his head between his long black hair, as 2 pairs of thorny horns, 1 set of which is nearly as wide as his head & stand like 2 crescent moon on either side of it. That’s apparent in this picture, with details that r not evidence of the claim but support it regardless. His palette is warm, his loosely tied dark hair reflects amber hues in its fly away strands, high round cheekbones frame the sincerity of his eyes, he’s wearing a knitted jersey that sits low under his collarbone showing off his long golden brown neck. He is unguarded, open, honest & has a gentle smile. Miles is good at smiling. But, he’s also intelligent. His dark eyes that, like his hair, have caught the amber hues of the light, r remarkably attentive. Earnestly, but acutely. He’s good at noticing things. Good at finding things. Theo had tried to put up the arrogant front of a deeply unimpressed teenager, however his failure was evident in her shades, where he could see the reflection of his own uncertainty in his eyes. They watched the face of the predators before him with a primal calculation gear towards survival. Her smile was the foremost object of disturbance. It was distinctly wrong. A little too wide and crowded with jaggard hyena-like teeth. It could, arguably, hold a candle to the definition of a maw. The fact that her skin was scored with a hash of pale scars didn’t help the impression either, it told the story of someone not easily dissuaded from any given intention. All this set in the backdrop of a mane of black hair with webs of silver that Theo still had decades to possess. She raised one eyebrow behind her shades. Theo noted it too, and smoked his joint with a sinking feeling. Even in the bright, safe light of the beach they stood on, Theo estimated that he was the nameless victim in the prologue of a horror. If only he was so lucky. This is not in fact the prologue, this is chapter one and he is the P.O.V.

I've always loved dark art, but my stuff tends to lean cutsey. I've been working on it lately, though, and have things that freak friends out now! I'm so proud. Still a level of sweet, but trying to make the contrast work for me haha.

It hadn’t yet sodden her wild black hair but thin rivers of water were already running down her face & naked body, marbling over her tattoos. She’s a tall woman, though it’s not apparent in this picture from her ribs up, outside of the impression given by the way she looks down on the frame with black eyes & condescending amusement. She raises 1 eyebrow, it’s a dark distinct shape against her pale grey skin, but still you’d nearly be forgiven for not catching the expression on her gaunt face, given the attention her tattoos draw. Her hair is a wild black mane and her canine teeth will give you worse things than rabies. She is lazily smearing blood ‘off’ her face with no success & is only fulfilling the effect of spreading the scarlet strain across her mouth, making her white canine teeth all the more stark in the surrounding red. 2 gods, The Holly King and The Oak King, twisted around each other, back to back, as they stab both themselves and their opposite through their own chests and on into the back of the other with long swords decorated in a fashion to suit their own symbolism.
