Incredible effort @chris4patches.bsky.social, 66 species and 35 miles is no small feat!

Huge thanks for highlighting the fantastic work of Friends groups across #Birmingham. They’re vital for our parks & open spaces, helping protect nature & all the wildlife that depend on it 💚🌳🦉

#WestMidsAllDayer
66 bird species were seen in Birmingham yesterday during my 35 mile walk across our great city!

We’ve so much to be proud of including our natural heritage

I met friends groups that look after Brum’s open spaces. They’re the “unsung heroes” that deliver so much for the city 👏

The very best of luck to all #birders participating in the #WestMidsAllDayer today.

One of those rare autumn days when passage migrants are actually migrating through our region!

I have realised that my record collation for #westmidsalldayer over the years has been shocking. Here is a list of sites I 'think' have recorded 100 species or greater - grateful for any clarifications. Interestingly 6 each for spring and autumn

Started y'day at Belvide Reservoir with Kevin Heath to see lesser scaup and pectoral sandpiper; ticked both, good views, and met some helpful locals participating in the #westmidsalldayer. A bit misty and very flat light on a great (members) reserve.

Good luck to all participating in tomorrow's #westmidsalldayer. Very promising forecast - NE wind and cloud overnight, a touch more easterly in day with morning rain and a bit of afternoon brightness for passerines to pop their heads out. Surely must produce waders, terns (and better?)

The final birds of the day at Puxton, these two Gadwall probably the only birds we wouldn't have anticipated. Total finished at 60 against a patch record of 67 which is going to take a lot of luck to beat. I'll put the list together to send tomorrow. #westmidsalldayer

For instance, just had this message returned when trying to look at the WestMidsAllDayer feed. It may be because there has been no update within a certain time period? #uptonwarren

Good luck to all sites and participants of tomorrow's Spring edition of the #westmidsalldayer - clear skies, NW winds and glorious sunshine wouldn't be my conditions of choice. With a few regulars missing I will be doing Middleton Lakes - please message me any notable sightings
