This weekend, Sporting KC's fans formally asked for Peter Vermes to resign from the job.

Sporting co-principal owner Michael Illig asked about it:

“I was aware there was a letter, but I did not consume the letter” until after the discussion with Vermes.

“It was not a factor.”

#VermesOut

We have to try to do something to turn the club around. We cannot give 5-year contract extensions to head coaches without results.
The KC Cauldron and South Stand release a joint statement:

“Peter Vermes must resign as manager. This is not a request—it is a demand from a fanbase that refuses to watch its club wither under outdated tactics and unchallenged authority.”

We make slow decisions in a stale and repetitive attack. Coaching needs to change. #vermesout #skc

The color commentator just said, "And now #SportingKC gets a chance to show how they handle adversity." Buddy, they've had nothing but those opportunities through 4 games, and they've shown, each and every time, that they're not up to the task at all. #VermesOut

Sure this team is boring, but at least they're sloppy and undisciplined, as well. #SportingKC #VermesOut

Looks like I'm fading SKC all season. #VermesOut

#VermesOut. I mean really SKC? What an embarrassing start to the season after a horrible season a year ago.

Save your #FireVermes and #VermesOut hashtags. While Peter Vermes is far from innocent, it's ownership that's failed him in recent years.

They are going to give him a chance to fix it, whether you like it or not. #SportingKC #MLS

OPINION: Blame Ownership, Not Vermes, for Sporting KC's Failings - KC Soccer Journal
Peter Vermes, who admittedly holds a ton of power, is reticent to say it, but ownership has let him down in recent years.
