No sign of my target species in Cheshire today but a good supporting cast of rares. Jumping spider Sitticus floricola, Cheshire horsefly Atylotus plebeius and cranefly Idioptera linnei. ⁦@tanyptera⁩ ⁦@World_Museum⁩

I’ve yet to see an Assassin Bug but have seen 2 species of Damselbug, that I can remember

Tanyptera atrata - Giant Sabre Comb Horn Cranefly, on Whixall Moss. The colouring and ovipositor meant at first glance it looked like some sort of ichneumon.

Twitter debut for Lathrobium rufipenne. A Vulnerable rove beetle of boggy areas. Most records from the Bure Valley, Norfolk. Thanks to ⁦@tanyptera⁩ I was able to find it @ two new sites in Cheshire and relocate it at another for 1st time in 100 years.
