#Spinosaurus and #Tameryraptor were both found in the Bahariya Formation, representing Cretaceous Eygpt. While Tameryraptor had teeth specialized for slicing flesh off of large animals, Spinosaurus had conical teeth more suited for fish! www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXMC...

I have not been able to sleep well ever since Kellerman et al. 2025 (the Tameryraptor paper) suggested that this specimen (NCSM 14345) of Acrocanthosaurus may not be the same animal as the holotype.

Portrait of Tameryraptor markgrafi, a carcharodontosaurid from the Late Cretaceous of Bahariya Formation (Egypt). Its remains have long been attributed to Carcharodontosaurus, but it is distinguished by the presence of a small horn on its nose and symmetrical teeth.

-to reach a fairly large size, at an estimated 8-9 meters long! This idea has persisted for years, but most recently, in a paper from January 2025 that described the new carcharodontosaurid genus, Tameryraptor, Datanglong was classified as a carcharodontosaurid once again! (2/2)

Dino Fact!

Tameryraptor (Thief from the Beloved Land) is a carcharodontosaurid from Late Cretaceous Egypt! Its remains were part of paleontologist Ernst Stromer's collection, which was unfortunately bombed in World War 2, destroying the many fossils-(1/2)

-but I think it’s possible it could’ve helped in thermoregulation, and intimidating off other predators (such as Carcharodontosaurus and Tameryraptor) from their kills.

I overall think your thread makes a lot of sense. Spinosaurus was probably a better swimmer than most dinosaurs (all- 3/?

-It was capable of hunting and eating terrestrial prey (such as juvenile sauropods and ornithopods
-Spinosaurus would have been able to intimidate predators (such as Carcharodontosaurus and Tameryraptor) away from their kills, thanks to its large size, claws and sail

The episode is set in Morocco. Even if it was set in Egypt, I think it would still portray Carcharodontosaurus as existing there, instead of Tameryraptor (the show is set to air in June, and that paper was published in January).
April 11, 2025 at 3:06 PM
the real question is will the bahariya carcharodontosaurid be referred to as carcharodontosaurus or tameryraptor in the show's narration
April 11, 2025 at 12:31 PM
Maybe the difference between Spinosaurus in Egypt and Morocco can still work, but I heard there’s controversy regarding the Bahariya and Kem Kem formations. I’m not even asking WWD to include Tameryraptor (described during production), I just think it’s an interesting idea for the future.

Like, you could give them distinct outward appearances and show differences in how they adapted to their respective ecosystems, the interactions between respective contemporary fauna (especially in light of Tameryraptor).
