💔 Twisting the Narrative? Discrediting the brave officers who defended democracy on 1/6 dishonors their sacrifice. We saw what happened—let’s not rewrite history. 🛡️ #January6th #SupportOurPolice #Democracy

IPC’s Nashinge asks for better livelihoods for police officers
Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) official opposition leader Imms Nashinge has demanded an improved living standard for police officers. Nashinge said this on Thursday while delivering his maiden speech in the National Assembly. “We cannot be telling our security officers that you are the backbone of our security in the country and yet they are underpaid, no houses and live in deplorable conditions,” said Nashinge. He said police officers need not only financial support but also moral and mental support. Nashinge also questioned the condition of unbranded vehicles that police officers are forced to work with while they are still expected to deliver. Nashinge questioned how police officers can carry out their duties with such vehicles. He said due to poor salaries many police officers have left the police to seek better living standards as current salaries are unable to give them a decent life. He called on the line ministry to ensure it improves police officers’ living standards to enable them to protect society against crime. Nashinge also raised the issue of immigration at the borders of Namibia and Angola, where movement is not controlled due to an absence of police officers. Namibia’s national territory must be protected, he said. The post IPC’s Nashinge asks for better livelihoods for police officers appeared first on The Namibian.
