Yesterday, West Midlands Railway was brought back into public ownership🚅

This is a move towards a simpler, more reliable railway — run in the public interest, not for private profit.

Brilliant news for anybody travelling from Cradley Heath, Old Hill or Rowley Regis train stations!

Not your average day in Westminster!

Brilliant to see the UK Commando Forces in action in Parliament today — showcasing their equipment, expertise and the vital work they do to keep us safe🤲

Labour's new Leasehold reform is set to cap ground rents at £250 a year!

Another way we're cutting costs for working people, and giving you back control.💪

This week, I met with Blair McDougall MP, Minister responsible for Royal Mail, to share my concern about postal delays in Halesowen.

I understand that the Christmas backlog at Coombs Wood Sorting Office is coming down thanks to the dedicated and hardworking Royal Mail staff.

From April 2026, every pub will get 15% off its new business rates bill, with a 2 year real terms freeze on top of that!

Pubs are the beating heart of our community here in Halesowen, and I'm delighted that this Labour government is putting pubs first.🍻

I have written a letter to Dudley Council regarding the ongoing issues my constituents have been experiencing with grit bins. I am calling on the council to reinstate grit bins, ensuring that the safety of Halesowen residents is considered a priority.

As survivors become fewer, it is our responsibility to ensure their stories are never forgotten and that the lessons of the Holocaust are passed on to future generations.

Today, we come together to remember, reflect, and renew our commitment to saying: never again.

14 years of Tory chaos broke Britain.

Reform UK isn’t the answer.

Same people. Same failures. New logo.

What Reform say vs what Reform do...

Reform = Tories by another name.

I am completely appalled by Donald Trump's ignorant and insulting comments about Nato troops in Afghanistan.

I saw first-hand how British and Nato troops fought, bled, and gave their lives on the front lines.

Trump's comments are extremely damaging.

Great to be out on the doorstep again — listening to your concerns, learning and taking your issues straight back to Parliament to represent you.

After hearing from many constituents about ongoing postal delays, I have written to the Chief Executive of Royal Mail to press for urgent action to restore reliable, regular deliveries.

Voters deserve honesty. Reform is packed with former Conservative ministers who helped deliver years of chaos and decline.

Labour is focused on real change.🌹

I hear from parents, teachers and young people themselves that social media is harming children’s mental health, wellbeing and ability to thrive.

I'm happy to sign this letter calling for stronger action from the Government in raising the minimum age to use social media to 16.

I absolutely love showing my constituents around Parliament!

Send my team an email (alex.ballinger.mp@parliament.uk) to organise a tour!

Thanks to this Labour Government's Employment Rights Bill, from April, an additional 32,000 dads per year will be able to access Paternity Leave immediately.

This is about backing working families✊

The NHS waiting list is down by 86,000!

There are 1,507 fewer people waiting for care at the Dudley Group Foundation Trust.

That’s the second biggest drop in NHS waiting lists in 15 years - *despite staff facing record demand in 2025 + winter + strikes*!

Labour is turning the NHS around.

Reform UK: Britain's worst ever recycling project!

Yet another Tory has plans to defect to Reform. Same Tories. Same ideas. New logo.

Latest addition? Robert Jenrick.

Use the QR code to report any potholes in your area!

Once reported, my team will report these to Dudley Council to ensure they are making the most of their funding!

I’m pleased to report that Labour-led Sandwell Council has achieved a ‘Green’ rating for road repairs in the Department for Tranport’s ranking.

Dudley has achieved ‘Amber’ and has more work to do.

Happy to join Dawn Butler MP and sign the open letter, calling for the Government to scrap the outdated Aim to Permit principle within the Gambling Act 2005. The Aim to Permit principle leaves councils and communities unable to stop gambling shops opening on high streets.
January 11, 2026 at 12:00 PM
Please take extra care when leaving the house today, as the Met Office has issued an Amber Weather Alert❄️

Thank you for all of your emails regarding Dudley Council's decision to remove grit bins. My team are raising these issues with Dudley Council, and I will hopefully have an update soon.

🚦 Biggest Road Safety Improvements in over a decade 🚦

The Government has launched a bold new Road Safety Strategy to cut deaths and serious injuries on our roads by 65% by 2035.

I’m delighted that our Labour Government is delivering this strategy to make our roads safer for everyone in Halesowen.
