I'm at the Willard Hotel where I've been denied entry and kicked out of the Reclaiming Science event with NIH director Bhattacharya & other top agency leaders.

@jocelynkaiser.bsky.social and I registered for the event months ago yet were told capacity was full, even as they let in dozens of others.

It takes money to run an advocacy group, to run campaigns to win back public trust and fight for public health. Emphasis on "the fight." Surrender or negotiation is not a viable option at this point. #ScienceSky 🧪
Ok people!!!

I believe we may be taking March 7th NATIONAL!

This will require financial support. Last year, nationwide, the protests cost $75,000. We need all the help we can get!

Help us fuel the fight here: www.standupforscience.net/donate

It's actually very feasible to defund and dismantle ICE within a few months. Just do what they did to every federal science agency last year. #ScienceSky #MedSky 🩺🧪
It's very easy to tear something down, just defund and start ripping out wires. #AbolishICE
The US government has lost more than 10,000 people with PhDs in the STEM or health fields since Trump 2.0 took office — 14% of the federal civil servants with PhDs in those areas, a @ScienceMagazine analysis shows.

This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.

I want to address my friend Ilan who says here that he has been subject to “a lot of hate” from academics who “should know better” and haven’t respected the “academic enterprise.”

I don’t dislike Ilan. I also think his paper is fundamentally wrong and not scholarly.

Machine learning can be very helpful, it can remove much of the pain or "friction" involved in crunching data. But that's a problem. Real innovation often ONLY emerges from constraints. People can't see beyond the beam and the empty prompt box unless they have no choice. #ScienceSky 🧪

Bare Cu creates localized islands that trigger cracks, but a 50nm Ag nanolayer keeps things uniform and stable, even at high current. 📷🔋

Ask questions about sex characteristics, lose funding. That's the whole game, if you study any biology. Imagine your physics grant got cut because you study gravity. It's now against the rules to ask questions about gravity. #ScienceSky 🧪
