After launching the Beelink ME Mini NAS with support for up to 6 M.2 2280 SSDs this year, Beelink is teasing a Me Pro model with support for 2 or 4 HDDs. It's a little larger than the 3.9" cube-shaped SSD-only model, but still small by NAS standards. www.notebookcheck.net/Beelink-teas...

The AI RAM shortage is going to really fuck over GTA 6. Without an upgrade path to beefy GPUs, RAM and SSDs (either for PCs or as "PRO" Consoles) people will delay buying the game (or buy it and hate the subpar performance). I bet a PS5 won't be enough for close to what they've shown. #videogames

I really need to get a couple of 1TB NVMe SSDs soon. One to upgrade the base storage on my desktop PC, and the other for my home server. I don't mind using an HDD for data, but I'd rather the OS on both using solid state. Hopefully, I can find a good price. Screw companies who support LLM slop. 😡

I've been gone for a beat, while I set up my *new(ish)* computer,
I'm now rocking 8TB SSDs and a 9950x RTX 4090.

What did I miss?

I have but I'd still do triple backups to SSDs anyway - I'm so paranoid about losing customer's work!
December 9, 2025 at 3:34 PM
honestly i don't entirely get the point in NVMe SSDs

like, ok, if you regularly shuffle around ginormous files i guess they make sense

but most people don't do that, and for example in gaming use i've literally never had my SATA III SSD speeds be a bottleneck

That's what I do, yes.
Sometimes you get scratched, used stuff, but most likely it's okay.
You can then turn it up a notch and host your own streaming server.

HDDs turner off last seemingly forever, but are deceptible to things SSDs/NVMEs aren't, but latter don't store fine without heat and energy
