Background Info:
By the end of 2025, the Trump administration has destroyed approximately 35 vessels and killed at least 115 civilians in both the Caribbean and the Pacific. They claim they are targeting drug smugglers, but there is no evidence these boats were carrying any drugs nor were they associated with the Tren de Argua or any other gang or cartel. According to the War Powers Resolution of 1973, congressional approval is required to engage in hostilities, but the Trump administration has unilaterally decided that the War Powers Resolution does not apply, despite pushback from Pentagon lawyers and other legal experts.
On January 3, 2026, the Trump administration launched an attack on Caracas, the Capital city of Venezuela, killing more than 80 Venezuelans (both military and civilians) and capturing the President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro and the First Lady of Venezuela, Cilia Flores. These actions have been condemned by countries with many experts saying this is a violation of international law and an Act of War.
The Trump administration has said the US will “run” Venezuela, put American troops there if needed, and take over Venezuelan Oil Reserves for “US investors.”
